Engineer - Oracle DBA

What are we looking for? 

An experienced Oracle DBA specialist to work with our Federal Government clients within our Innovation, Security and Engineering team across a range or projects and clients.  

Focused on providing administration, support, design, implementation and troubleshooting of the various platforms comprising the Oracle environment. 

What you’ll do 

  • Monitor space usage on databases and add additional space as required 

  • Monitor space usage of Oracle ASM on all servers and add disks when required 

  • Export and import schema objects from Prod databases to Non-Prod as required 

  • Refresh full Oracle databases from Prod database to Non-Prod as required (RMAN duplicate) 

  • Write and/or update shell scripts to perform required tasks against databases 

  • Write and/or update SQL scripts as required 

  • Apply database patches to servers on a quarterly basis and apply to each database using datapatch 

  • Monitor Oracle DataGuard instances for Prod databases and recreate standby databases if required 

  • Perform cutovers to DR databases during patching windows 

  • Install and test new versions of Oracle software and patches 

  • Perform cleanups of disk space (ASM and filesystem) as required 

  • Create new databases when requested and implement schema security/privileges as required 

  • Perform test restores/recovery of Oracle databases using RMAN and/or export/import 

  • Run application updates on databases when requested 

  • Upgrade databases including characterset conversion   

  • Performance monitoring of databases and making adjustments when required 

  • Monthly refresh of data from Prod to Test 

  • Monitor daily Commvault backups and fix/rerun as required 

  • Check for any database errors that could potentially lead to issues 

  • Respond to Service Request and Incidents tickets raised in ServiceNow. 

 You must be an Australian Citizen, preferably with a minimum NV1 clearance.

 As our clients are primarily government, you will need to be an Australian Citizen who holds an Australian Security Clearance or has the ability to obtain. Applicants that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
